Ashlea Samuelson

The world I am creating is rooted in both reality and fantasy. It is one that embraces the grotesque and mundane but finds beauty from within allowing for self-doubt to diminish and appreciation of one’s own fetish and flaws to flourish. This evolving series of Self is a continuation of my exploration into my own ego and fetish. From finding strength in people and environment to finding growth and power in myself, these are small glimpses of the ever changing path I am walking to find my personal sense of peace  
 

Ashlea was born and raised in Reno, Nevada, where she earned her BFA in printmaking and museums studies from the University of Nevada Reno. She now lives and creates in Portland, Oregon. Her work is heavily influenced by the colors of the Pacific Northwest sunrises and sunsets and the ego driven subconscious. Working primarily with ink and watercolor, she creates dream-inspired works using heavy line work and pattern repetition.
